We can think of no one better to lead the design team here at Wild Harvest Company; meet our "Head Regenerative Designer", Katy Casper. Katy's brilliant mind is responsible for the beautiful and effective ecological design that you see here at Wild Harvest; creating resilience and urban food production is her passion. We interviewed Katy about her background and personal dreams that led her to join our team. Here's what she said:

Where were you before Wild Harvest?

I started my journey in 2005 with my Bachelor of Environmental Design from CU Boulder and after, a Master of Architecture from CU Denver in 2010. I worked in architecture for 7 years then shifted to full-time artist in 2013, doing mostly murals and teaching. After developing a passion for permaculture, I received my Permaculture Design Certificate in 2019. Since then, working part-time with adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities to grow food at urban farms. I started designing permaculture homesteads and gardens for Food Forest Abundance in 2023. Soon after, I found Wild Harvest Company and started gardening and designing urban permaculture landscapes, eventually finding this role I'm in now as "Head Regenerative Designer".

What inspires you to be here at Wild Harvest?

What inspires me most about Wild Harvest Company is our commitment to creating ecologically vibrant, regenerative landscapes, that go beyond sustainability to actively restore soil health, biodiversity, and the connection between people and the land. I love that we integrate edible, medicinal, and native plantings into our designs, transforming outdoor spaces into thriving ecosystems that nourish both humans and wildlife. Being part of a team that values ecological resilience, beauty, and function—while fostering regenerative relationships between people, the planet, and profit feels empowering. It aligns deeply with my personal mission to cultivate joy and vitality through nature.

How do you spend time outside of Wild Harvest?

Outside of my professional life at Wild Harvest, I'm still growing food and medicine; it's a passion that transcends my "work life", it's a life's work calling. Additionally, I love traveling, seeing and learning from new places, people and cultures. I'm also very active, consistently showing up at local roller skating rinks and playing soccer.

What else do you want the world to know about you?

At my core, I am someone who believes in the power of connection—between people, plants, and place. My work, whether through art, regenerative landscaping, or education, is about fostering deeper relationships with the land and each other. I see beauty not just in what is, but in what could be; in the potential of a neglected space to become abundant, in the resilience of nature when given the right support, and in the ways that small, intentional acts can ripple out to create meaningful change. I strive to cultivate joy, vitality, and ecological harmony, and I hope that my work inspires others to see themselves as stewards of the world around them.
